Recent Inscription Discoveries in the South of Arabian Peninsula
The researcher, Mohamed Ali Al-Haj, a specialist in the study of ancient antiquities, gave a lecture in Al-Tawheed Hall at the National Museum, Riyadh, entitled "Recent Inscription Discoveries in the South and Center of the Arabian Peninsula, Their History and Importance", about the latest inscription discoveries in the South of the Arabian Peninsula on Tuesday 28/3/2017, corresponding to 29/6/1438H. At the beginning of the lecture, Al-Haj praised the efforts exerted by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage represented in the Saudi excavation teams to find discoveries that enrich the ancient civilization history in the Arabian Peninsula through the ages. The Saudi team found important Musnad inscriptions at the Al-Ukhdoud Site, mentioning the old name of Al-Ukhdoud which is “Tarban”, and changed the ideas of the researchers about Amir tribe. The researchers stated that the tribe members were owners of convoys, but the inscription tells that it is a kingdom ruled by kings just like other kingdoms in the Arabian Peninsula. Al-Haj highlighted the importance of recent inscription discoveries in the south and center of the Arabian Peninsula and their role in perpetuating the Arab tribes' presence in the Arabian Peninsula and building diplomatic and commercial relations with the north of the Arabian Peninsula, the Levant, Egypt and the Mediterranean countries. Also, he highlighted the rich information can be obtained from the archeological discoveries if there were found and not moved from in their place.
